Today has been an unexpected day of twists and turns, sometimes very literally. We did not perform our concert perfectly, and some may say it was our hardest day so far. Through singing worship songs after the concert and the wonderful peace of God our perspective of it all changed. Instead, we can confidently look back and say it was a successful and beautiful day of growth. We are not here on the missions trip to perform for ourselves, we are here to do our best for the Lord and give him all the honor and glory.

Seeing Satan trying to ruin the proclamation of the gospel tonight through all of our music stutters and mic malfunctions has only confirmed with me that we are right where the Lord wants us to be. Instead of being discouraged by the devil, our friendships with each other and with God were strengthened. Though Satan should buffet, Though trials should come… Praise the Lord! It is well with my soul!!

I’m so grateful for the way God has helped each and every one of us during this trip. This morning I could tell right away that we needed Him more than ever. We were all out of our element, being used to air conditioning, private bathrooms, and personal schedules. Luckily, we had a long session of prayer before we started the day. It meant a lot to me. I knew I didn’t have the right attitude. It reminded me to rely on Him.

Later in the day, we grouped up and passed out invitations for our concert. As we were walking, I grew disappointed that I wasn’t having the natural fiery spirit for ministry. I wanted to be THE Christian role model. God readily reminded me of the lesson He’s been teaching me again and again this trip: His grace is sufficient for me. As much as I’d like to be the unstoppable, limitless Haley, that mindset has no room for God’s glory. True strength lies in allowing my vulnerabilities to connect me to my Father. What a privilege it is that I have my whole life to do this! God is good.
